The Great Gala of Integration
The Great Gala of Integration (Wielka Gala Integracji) is the biggest feast of people with disabilities in Poland, organized on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. It sums up the annual activities of Integracja for people with disabilities. This year’s Gala was unique. For the first time in history, it wasn’t led by Piotr Pawłowski – founder and long-time president of Integracja, who left us prematurely at the beginning of October.
This year, however, the Gala was an occasion to recall Piotr Pawłowski, without whom there would be neither the Great Gala nor a series of other activities that he initiated as part of the Friends of Integracja Association which he established. On Gala there were a memories of relatives, friends and people he met over the years, realizing the mission and subsequent Integracja projects.
For 23 years, The Great Gala of Integration has been an opportunity to meet people with various types of disabilities from all over the country, as well as public figures, politicians, media representatives, companies engaging in activities for people with disabilities and representatives of non-governmental organizations.
During the event, the Friend of Integracja Medal is awarded to people and institutions that work for benefit of the community of people with disabilities not with a formal obligation, but with a desire to build a social integration.
There are also the results of contests like Warsaw Investments without Barriers, Applications without Barriers and the Website without Barriers, organized jointly with the City of Warsaw.
The event has integrative, artistic and cultural character and every year it gathers almost 3,000 people from all over Poland. We’ve had on our stage, among others: Pectus, Myslovitz, Kayah, Justyna Steczkowska, Enej, Audiofeels, Natalia Kukulska, Urszula, Krzysztof Cugowski, Stanisław Soyka, Raz Dwa Trzy, De Mono, Monika Kuszyńska and Olga Bończyk.
